For the second year, the American Humane Association’s farm-animal welfare program, American Humane Certified, will exhibit at the Food Marketing Institute Show in May, to showcase the fastest growing marketing opportunity for humane labeled food products to the industry’s leading producers and food marketers.

All attendees of the FMI Show are invited to visit American Humane’s booth (# 1588) to learn about the certification process and how American Humane certified is a value-added program that is not only good for animals but good for business and good for people.

American Humane Certified is America’s first animal welfare program dedicated to the welfare and humane treatment of farm animals. More than 50 million farm animals have been certified by American Humane’s science-based program. American Humane hopes to encourage the sources of the nation’s protein products to commit to the humane treatment of animals and become American Humane Certified.

As consumers are increasingly showing concern for how their food was raised, producers are seeking independent, third-party verification to the market. American Humane Certified believes that animal welfare should not only be good for animals but is also economically viable for producers.  American Humane Certified works with agriculture to educate and motivate producers and demonstrate the economic and social benefits of animal welfare.

In a proprietary study by Public Opinion Strategies for American Humane, there were two significant findings:

Of all types of food labels, humane treatment is the most important.
Consumers are willing to pay up to 10 percent more for a humanely raised product.
American Humane works closely with its independent Scientific Advisory Committee, industry professionals and producers to ensure that industry advancements and best practices are part of American Humane certification standards. Based on its 130 year legacy of being the gold standard of humane behavior, consumers trust the American Humane Certified label.

The FMI Show takes place May 4-7 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. For more information on American Humane Certified please go to www.americanhumane.org/certified.
